Sports Roundup: South River Boys, Girls Lacrosse Top Chesapeake

The South River baseball team fell to Bel Air High School 12-3.

Several South River High School sports were in action Tuesday night. Here’s a rundown of how the teams faired.

Boys Lacrosse

The boys lacrosse team easily handled Chesapeake High School 10-3 Tuesday night in Edgewater.

The Seahawks were led by Brandon Senft’s four-goal performance, while Matt Gaskins and Ben Chisolm each added a pair. South River goalie Jake Gavin had 12 saves in the victory.

With the win over the Cougars, South River improved to 5-2 on the season. The Seahawks will host Old Mill on Friday at 7 p.m.

Girls Lacrosse

The South River girls lacrosse team routed Chesapeake 18-5 Tuesday night.

Taylor Bresnahan and Kacie Longo led South River in the victory with three goals and an assist each, according to the Capital Gazette. The Seahawks are now 5-2.

South River will host Old Mill on Friday at 5 p.m.

Baseball

The South River baseball team suffered its second loss of the season Tuesday night with a 12-3 loss to Harford County foe Bel Air High School.

Pitcher Grayson Boone got the win for Bel Air, allowing two runs over 4 1/3 innings. Boone struck out three and walked six. Austin Wright recorded the loss for South River.

The Seahawks struggled defensively in the outing, and committed several key errors. Of the 12 runs Bel Air scored, only three of them were earned.

The loss to the Bobcats was the Seahawks' second and the team is now 6-2. South River will travel to Annapolis on Wednesday, with the first pitch scheduled for 4 p.m.
