Striped Bass Commercial Season Reopens Wednesday

Modified season for hook and line fishery.

John Griffin, the Maryland Secretary of the Department of Natural Resources announced the statewide re-opening of the 2011 striped bass commercial hook and line fishery, effective on Wednesday and Thursday (Sept. 28 and 29).  

The catch limit for the modified season will be 500 pounds per week per permit.

The hook and line fishery will remain open in October on Tuesdays and Wednesdays only, with a catch limit of 500 pounds per week per permit.

The department offered a reward of at least $6,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of person or persons responsible for setting the anchored gill nets in the vicinity of Bloody Pt Light, Chesapeake Bay, Queen Anne's County on or about the week of January 30 and being found by the Natural Resources Police on January 31 and February 1 and 2, 2011.
