Liberty senior Maggie McCormick scored her 1,000th point just before halftime.
All Liberty had to do was win and they would earn a share of the county title, but the Lions came up on the short end Tuesday to Westminster.
The Owls won on their own court 50-46 behind senior Alyssa Semones 27 points.
South Carroll captured the girls basketball title for the second consecutive year with the Lion loss. The Cavalier boys were in attendance to watch the game.

The highlight for Liberty team was senior Maggie McCormick scoring her 1,000th point just before halftime. She scored 11 points in the first half to stake the Lions to a 27-22 lead at the half.
"We just had a lack of intensity and hustle. I mean it came in spurts between that and our outside shot not falling kind of made a big difference," said Lion coach Jessica Morgan.

The Owls took the lead with three seconds left in the third quarter on a field goal by Jane Sussman. Westminster led the rest of the game. Liberty cut the lead to two points with 1:10 left in the game, but Semones and Danielle Fieni each sunk the front end of a one-an-one to seal the victory.
"It was frustrating The offense really wasn’t clicking and it just wasn’t working," Morgan said about the second half.
Maggie McCormick led the Lions with 14 points, Beka Coughlin had 11, Kelly McCormick 12; Hailey Marlatt, seven and Lexi Cross added four.
Backing up Semones were Hope Westbrook and Bethany Baer with eight each, Sussman, six and Fieni with one.
"The good news is we play North Hagerstown tomorrow so it’s time to bounce back and keep on," Morgan said.
Liberty took the junior varsity game 37-35. The Lions were led by Christine Johnson with 11 points.
