South Carroll took a 33-25 lead into the locker room at halftime. The Cavaliers put the game away in the third quarter as they outscored the Falcons 21-9.

"Once I called that early time out at the start of the third quarter. We just had to play with more urgency,  more aggressive. We  thought we were more talented and we didn’t play with the passion I thought we need to. But then we went on that stretch where we did play with some passion and that’s where it went from eight to whatever it was to 20," said Cavalier coach Doug Goff.

South Carroll took a 54-34 lead into the final quarter. McTavish scored 14 of his points in the second half.

"You have to keep playing with that passion and heart no matter what you think, no matter who you are playing especially in county games. We are playing these guys again and have to go up there. We just can’t let down," said Goff.

South Carroll improved to 2-1 on the season and 1-0 in the county. Winters Mill dropped to 0-2 overall and 0-1 in the county.

Evan Horn led the Falcons with 18 points.

The Cavaliers travel to Liberty Friday evening for a boys-girls doubleheader. The Lions plan to honor former coach Steve Johnson at the game. Johnson was a graduate and assist coach at South Carroll.

Winters Mill won the junior varsity game 46-35.
