Century and Liberty March to the Top in Weekend Competitions

and high school marching bands returned to competition Saturday after a week off.

Both bands picked up first place with Century topping the competition at the USSBA Maryland State Championship at Towson and the Lions marching off with first place in a Tournament of Bands event at Walkersville.

The Knights totaled 77.425 points in Group I open class. The band also took honors for music, effect, visual, percussion and color guard.

Liberty had their highest total of the season at 87.50 in Group 2 open. They also had the highest score of the night out of the 12 bands that took the field. The Lions also took percussion, auxiliary, drum major, visual and music.

This is a big week for Liberty as they host the Chapter 5 championships Saturday. The first band hits the field at 3:30 p.m.

Century has the week off before returning to the field in the USSBA Remo Invitational on Oct. 29. The Knights host their annual home show on Nov. 5.
