Sheriff: 'Large Jar' of Marijuana Found in Eldersburg Man's Car

Patrick Richie was charged with five drug-related offenses.

A 20-year-old Eldersburg man was charged with several drug-related offenses this weekend after police received reports of a disorderly man on West Hemlock Drive on Oct. 7.

According to a Carroll County Sheriff's report, deputies responded to the 6200 block of West Hemlock Drive just after midnight Sunday for reports of a disorderly male knocking on a subject's door.

Police searched the area and found Patrick Richie, 20, of Eldersburg, exiting a vehicle on East Hemlock Drive, according to police reports. Richie was questioned and police said they observed a large jar of marijuana on the front seat of Richie's vehicle.

Richie was placed under arrest, according to police, and and a search of the vehicle revealed three large jars or marijuana as well as CDS (Controlled Dangerous Substance) packaging materials and scales.

Richie was charged with possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance, marijuana, possession of CDS with the intent to distribute, possession of CDS paraphernalia and possession of CDS packaging materials. Richie was held on a $7,500 bail, according to a police report.
