Freedom District Lions Club Donates Money to Keep Sykesville CSI Academy Alive

The Lions alongside Del. Susan Krebs presented a check to Sykesville Police Chief John Williams at this week's Town Council meeting.

At Sykesville’s Town Meeting Monday night, the Freedom District Lions Club’s Youth Outreach Committee represented by Lion, and State of Maryland Delegate Susan Krebs, presented Sykesville Police Chief John Williams with a check for the full amount needed to support the Junior CSI Program.

The program, in its fifth year, provides a unique opportunity for area middle school children to learn first hand about Crime Scene Investigation.

"Last summer the Lions became aware that the Sykesville Police Department was struggling and in need of funding to continue this outstanding youth program," said Carl Livesay, Youth Outreach Chairperson for the Freedom Disctrict Lions Club. "The Lions quickly decided to provide funding in full assuring the continuation of the Junior CSI Program.

The Lions were awarded a plaque following some very kinds words expressed by Chief Williams.
