Walkersville came out on top in the battle of the Lions in Friday night football at with a final score of 48-7.
The Lions were up 35-0 at halftime and things did not change for the home team after the Liberty band entertained the crowd. There was a running clock which only stopped for timeouts in the last 24 minutes.
"We have to resolve ourselves that we are not getting to let this be the end," said Liberty coach Jeff Kent when asked what he told the team after the game.

"We are going to keep fighting keep fighting keep working hard. We are all in this together."
Walkersville didn’t run one offensive play in the third quarter, but scored 14 points. Two fumbles within four plays were ran back for the scores. One of the fumbles was on the first play from scrimmage and ran out from 26 yard out. The other fumble went back 15 yards for the score.

"Walkersville is a really good football team. We saw it on film and we seen it happen on the film. They are a good football team and we just made it a whole lot easier for them with those turnovers," said Kent.
Liberty got their only points with under 2:30 remaining as the home team drove 49 yards in six plays. Junior Henry Ball capped the drive with a 13 yard run for six points.
Both teams have the same colors and mascot.
"I think the group that got out there and Henry scoring the touchdown. That was a great, great job by Henry. That really was. That was a great job by that whole group. They did a nice job. It was important. It is always important to get on the scoreboard in that situation," said Kent.
Walkersville out rushed Liberty 209 yards to 96. The visitors also had 164 yards passing compared to Liberty’s 30 yards.
Liberty falls to 1-2 for the season, while Walkersville improves to 3-0.
"The county always gets interesting and exciting and seeing different county people. We don’t want to forget these games. We don’t want to forget last week and we don’t want to forget tonight. We want to remember what it fills like to be in this situation and if that is the fuel for the fire, then it’s fuel for the fire," said Kent about the upcoming county schedule.
The county schedule gets underway next Friday as Liberty travels to Manchester Valley, South Carroll visits Winters Mill and Century hosts Francis Scott Key.
