High School Sports: Cavaliers Bounce Back in Field Hockey With Win Over Lions
South Carroll stopped Liberty 3-1 Tuesday night.
bounced back from a loss Monday to defeat Liberty 3-1 in field hockey.
The game was broken by halftime. The teams played to a 1-1 tie in the first 30 minutes. The Cavaliers dominated the second half in scoring two goals for the win.
"We talked about that at halftime about how once we get the lead keep on and not be satisfied with the score and keep on the momentum going and I think we did a good job of that today," said South Carroll coach Ashley Boumel.

South Carroll scored first in the game as junior Kelcey Weiss scored unassisted off a short corner. With 11:15 left in the first half Liberty’s Liz Bollard scored with an assist from Rita Long.
In the second half South Carroll out shot the visitors 8 to 4. There was 20:55 left in the game when freshman Alexis Rose took a pass from Kaitlin Gilliece and scored.

With 12:42 left in the contest, Stephanie Howell took a pass from Rose and scored for the final margin of victory for South Carroll.
"We were passing better. We were supporting each other better and we just worked really hard as a team today," said Boumel.
The Cavaliers evened their record at 1-1 in the county and 2-2 overall. Liberty fell to 1-2 in the county and overall.
Asked if playing a neighboring school is the tough part of the county schedule, Liberty coach Brenda Strohmer said, "This is tough, because this it the school I teach at. It’s always a big rivalry, the three schools on 26. You have to play your best in every game, doesn’t matter who it is."
Both teams are back in action on Thursday as Liberty travels to Manchester Valley and South Carroll visits Westminster. Century is also on the road at Francis Scott Key.
