"It took us a little while to get going. I think we were a little flat in the beginning, but we came back and put it together and the guys started having fun and just playing football and when we are playing football we are looking pretty good," said South Carroll coach Steve Luette.

The Cavaliers scored less than a minute later. Mullen returned the kick-off 84 yards to the Century 12-yard line. On the second play, Patrick scored his first touchdown on a 14 yard run.

Mullen and Patrick both scored in the second quarter to put the home team up 21-7 at halftime.

"South Carroll’s a pretty good football team. They made a couple of adjustments that kind of stopped us. We continue to make mistakes. We have a lot of new guys in. I think we have one guy in from our original five on the offensive line. We are not going to use that as an excuse," said Century head coach Jim Holzman.

South Carroll scored it’s last points of the night in just over two minutes in the third quarter. Mullen scored on a 56 yard run at the 8:44 mark and Patrick followed with a 53 yard run with 6:28 remaining in the quarter.

Century didn’t give up and came back to score late in the quarter as Brad MacFee found Logan Ryder for a 24-yard scoring strike.

"Our kids don’t give up. I told them here, we didn’t give up and we play to the end. We might have only 24, 25 kids, that can play, but we have a month left and we are going to play this thing all the way through  and see if we can get a couple more wins for us. The kids deserve it, they work hard," said Holzman.

South Carroll visits Liberty next week, while Century travels to Manchester Valley.
