High School Track: Weather Cancels Liberty Road Challenge After 10 Events

Century, Liberty and South Carroll gathered for the Liberty Road Challenge track meet, but the only challenge came from the sky.

Rain and snow caused the meet to be cancelled after 10 events. The meet will not be finished at a later date.

It was cloudy and cold as the teams gathered for the meet, as the runners toed the starting line for the first race, it started to snow. There was a short break before rain and more snow started to fall. Umbrellas and blankets were numerous among the fans and athletes.

"The cold weather effects kids for sure, it effects power and speed and every event requires both of those. But we are always faced with this difficulty early in the season, and as the season goes they not only get stronger and faster, but the weather is better for them too," said Liberty coach Bobby Ward.
