Liberty Defends Chapter 5 Band Title On Home Turf

The marching band defended their Group 2 title in the Tournament of Bands Chapter 5 regional championships Saturday night on their home turf.

The Lion’s Pride marching band under the direction of Brandi Jason compiled a score of 92.15 in winning the title. The band also captured all of the special awards for Group 2 which included percussion, auxiliary, drum major, visual and music.

Liberty performed their show Atlantis which is in three parts. The first part is the "Thriving Metropolis" followed by "An Eerie Calm" and "The Demise of Atlantis."

Tuscarora of Frederick County was second in the group with a score of 88.40, followed by North Hagerstown at 86.90 and Warren County, Va. at 82.30.

Walkersville won Group 1 with a score of 85.65, Frederick took Group 2A, Alleghany won Group 3 with a score of 93.55 and Linganore captured Group 4 at 86.20.

Next up for the Liberty band is the Atlantic Coast Championships. Group 2 is scheduled to perform at Hershey, Pa. on Nov. 6 at 3 p.m. Group 1 is earlier in the day at 8 a.m. Groups 1 and 3 are in Hershey on Oct. 30.
