Liberty Honors Former Basketball Coach
Liberty High School is holding a benefit to honor its former basketball coach who passed away in October.
The big event on the schedule this week is a boys-girls doubleheader at Friday night as travels to Eldersburg.
The Lions plan to honor former boy's basketball coach Steve Johnson during the event. Johnson, who died in October has ties to both schools.
He was the Lion's head coach since 2000 and graduated from South Carroll High School in 1979.

Johnson started his coaching career as an assistant under Cavalier coach Jim Carnes. He spent 13 years with South Carroll before being named head coach at Liberty.
The Lions compiled a 101-149 record under his guidance including being county co-champions in 2004.

Liberty is wearing a patch on their jerseys with "SJ" on them this season.
