Liberty to Allow More Time for Students to Get to Class After New Book Bag Policy
Students are no longer allowed to bring book bags or backpacks into classrooms.

With the start of the school year came a new policy at that forced students to in their lockers.
But after a month of the new policy, the school sent out new schedules to students Monday, giving them more time to stow their belongings in their lockers before heading to classes.
"After a month of students using their lockers we have ironed out most of the issues surrounding this transition. However, after hearing from many stakeholders, observing students in the hallways, and gathering data from teachers, we have decided to extend the amount of time students have between classes to 5 minute," said Liberty Principal Thomas Clowes in the October school newsletter.

"I hope that this change will allow students the time they need to make it to class on time."
The decision to not allow bookbags was announced in the back to school newsletter and was decided to address safety issues according to Clowes.

"We are doing this for several reasons. The most important reason is for student safety," said Clowes. "Leaving bookbags in student’s lockers will leave more room in the classrooms for students and teachers to move about the classrooms."
Bookbags are allowed to transport books to and from school but must be left in the lockers during the school day.
