Liberty Tops Rockville to Advance in Playoffs
The Lions host North Hagerstown on Thursday night.
Liberty girls basketball had everyone score as they routed Rockville 68-33 in the second round of the Class 2A west region.
The much anticipated match up with South Carroll will not happen as North Hagerstown downed the county champs, 38-31. Liberty and South Carroll were the second and third seeds in the region. North Hagerstown was the 11th seed and Liberty will host them Thursday night.
"We rotated through as many people as we could, which was good. Then they have the confidence going into the most important part of the season and the rest of the team has confidence in them," said Lion coach Jessica Morgan.

The up tempo game and tight defense was too much for Rockville as the Lions jumped out to a 16-2 lead after the first eight minutes of play.
When asked about Liberty’s defense, Morgan said, "It looked much better. I don’t know if that because of the other offense or if it just looked good. Either way I was pleased."

The Lions could adding to their lead and led at halftime, 31-14. Even going to the bench Liberty stretched the lead to 52-26 after three periods of play.
Kelly McCormick led the victors with 18 points, while her sister Maggie had 11 and Hailey Marlatt chipped in 10.
Also scoring for the Lions was Georgia Karr with nine, all from beyond the arc, Lexi Cross, five; Beka Coughlin, four; Sara Johnston, Taylor Sprague, Briana Christian, Kelly Smith and Christina Myers each had two points and Sinclair Vinson added one.
