Local Students Offer Tutoring Through Free Hotline

Need homework help? Assistance from students at is just a phone call away to a free tutoring hotline coming to Carroll County. 

PeerGenius Tutors, a Maryland based tutpring company, is offering a free homework hotline for all Carroll County students. The hotline will be answered by the company's tutors, who are "top achieving," Carroll County high school students.

Students in grades K-12 who have a homework question can call the toll-free PeerGenius telephone number, 1-888-221-5222, and a local student will assist in answering the challenging questions. 

"Research shows that students feel more comfortable asking questions when a tutor is closer to their own age and peer tutors can explain material in a way that they understand more easily," said Peter Traub, Vice President of PeerGenius.

To utilize the free service, the parent or student must register once on the company’s website to receive the special extension number for the Hotline. 

Initially, the hotline will be open every Tuesday evening. Questions in any subject will be answered from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. for grades K-8 and from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. for grades 6-12.
