Police Release Drawing of Suspect Wanted for Approaching Child in Sykesville

Police continue to look for the man who they say approached an 11-year-old girl in the Brandenburg Circle area in Sykesville.

Sykesville Police have released a sketch of the man who they say approached a young girl and attempted to get her in his car. 

On Tuesday, March 12, at approximately 7 p.m., an 11-year-old was approached by a white male in the area of Brandenburg Circle and Norris Avenue in Sykesville, according to the Town of Sykesville website.

Police said the male was operating a dark-colored vehicle, possibly a Volkswagen, when he told the child he was sent by her parents to pick her up due to an emergency. The suspect never left the vehicle, and the child did not have any contact with him and left, according to police reports.

The suspect is described as a white male, 40 to 50 years old with short, black/graying hair, a mustache and goatee. He has a black-white spacer in his right ear, police said.

Police are asking for the community’s help in identifying this man. If you observe any suspicious activity, police ask that you contact the Sykesville Police Department immediately at 410-795-0757.
