Sykesville Resident Threatened With Knife in Burglary

Carroll County sheriff's deputies were searching for a man who threatened a Sykesville resident with a knife during a residential burglary Friday night, according to a department press release. 

At approximately 8:40 p.m. Friday, Carroll County sheriff's deputies responded to a reported burglary at a private residence on Harvest Farm Road in Sykesville.  

The resident told deputies he heard his dog barking outside and went to investigate.

Upon checking the garage, the victim came face to face with the suspect, described as a black male, with a mustache, approximately 35, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and black pants.  

The suspect ran into the yard before running back toward the resident with a knife, according to the release. 

The victim was able to get inside the house and lock the door. A hunt of the area by a K9 unit was unsuccessful. 

The initial investigation revealed that the intruder entered the garage through an open garage door, removing tools valued at $50, according to the release.
