Warming Center Opens in Eldersburg
Carroll County is opening six warming centers in the area.

Carroll County issued the following information on Tuesday, Jan. 6.
Because of the anticipated dangerously cold weather, Carroll Countyβs Department of Citizen Services will operate six warming centers around the county. The public libraries will also be open and available to anyone in need of a warm place. Libraries are opening late, at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 6, due to snow.

Residents lacking sufficient heat are encouraged to seek warmth in any of the following locations:
- From 8 a.m.β4:30 p.m., MondayβFriday
- Mount Airy Senior and Community Center, 703 Ridge Avenue, Mount Airy
- North Carroll Senior and Community Center, 2328 Hanover Pike, Greenmount
- South Carroll Senior and Community Center, 5928 Mineral Hill Rd, Eldersburg
- Taneytown Senior and Community Center, 220 Roberts Mill Road, Taneytown
- Westminster Senior and Community Center, 125 Stoner Avenue, Westminster
- From 8 a.m.β5 p.m., MondayβFriday
- Citizen Services Office Building, 10 Distillery Drive, Westminster
- From 9 a.m.β8:45 p.m., Monday to Thursday; 9 a.m.β5 p.m., Friday and Saturday; and 1β5 p.m. Sunday

Shelters
Overnight: Human Services Programs of Carroll County operates a Cold Weather Shelter, at 127 Stoner Avenue, Westminster, overnight from 7 p.m.β7 a.m. during the cold weather season. Call 410-857-2999 for info. In times when overflow space is needed, Human Services has partnered with the Westminster Rescue Mission to provide transportation to a limited number of alternative overnight accommodations.

During the day, On Our Own provides a Cold Shelter, at 265 E. Main Street, Westminster, from about 7 a.m.β6:30 p.m. (Wednesdays until 8 p.m.); contact 410-751-6600 for more info.
