Carroll County High School Winter Sports Standings As Of Jan. 9
Century hosts two major sports events this week.
Two big events dominate the local sports schedule this week in Southern Carroll County as winter sports are in full swing.
On Tuesday, Liberty and South Carroll travel to Century for a wrestling meet. The action gets underway at 4 p.m. The Knights come into the meet ranked 11th in dual meets by Maryland State Wrestling Association.
The association has ranks the top 25 wrestlers at each weight class. The local schools first appear at 120 pounds as Liberty’s Roger Craig is 20th. The Lions have Joe Kuegler at 126 ranked 23rd.

The 138 weight class is the only one where all three schools appear. Century’s Kyle Tye is 12th with South Carroll’s Colin Plumley 17th and Liberty’s Casey Shea is 17th.
Next at 145 in Century’s Logan Ryder at 13th. South Carroll’s Alec Stavish is ninth and Liberty’s Luke Yox is 12th at 152.

South Carroll and Liberty both of wrestlers at 170 as the Cavalier’s Willie Reiter is fifth and the Lion’s Anthony Craig is 12th.
South Carroll’s Steven Schmitz is eighth at 182. Century has Brandon Antrobus is sixth at 220 and Ryder Cavey is 21st at 285.
The other sporting event is a boys/girls basketball doubleheader Friday at Century. The Knights will host South Carroll starting at 5:30 p.m.
Century and South Carroll are tied for first in boys and girls basketball.
