11 Charged In Holiday DUI Patrol: Howard County Police

Howard County police said that nearly a dozen people were arrested for driving under the influence.

HOWARD COUNTY, MD — Nearly one dozen drivers were arrested the night before Thanksgiving in an impaired driving enforcement detail, according to police. A sobriety checkpoint is planned for the weekend, officials added.

Extra officers were out patrolling roads in Howard County overnight before Thanksgiving with funding from a highway safety grant. They were focused on impaired drivers.

  • Michael Ellsworth Diggs, 39, of Laurel

  • Van Cung Bik, 27, of Baltimore
  • Everardo Martinez Gancedo, 24, of Mt. Airy
  • Corey Lucas Macklin, 24, of Laurel

  • Godfrey I. Ovia Jr., 22, of Jessup
  • Quann Joseph Crump, 21, of Baltimore

There will be a sobriety checkpoint this weekend at an undisclosed location, police advised.

Drivers will be out in force throughout the holiday season looking for impaired, distracted and speeding drivers as well as those conducting additional traffic violations.
