"Penn Line service may experience delays departing Washington this afternoon due to the need to refuel locomotives. Amtrak is working as quickly and safely as possible to get locomotives prepared for evening service. Passengers are asked to remain inside the station waiting room at Washington until your train is posted for boarding. This will allow Amtrak and MTA staff to convey informational updates in a timely manner. In addition, the following midday Penn Line trains have been cancelled:
  • Train 422 (1:20pm departure from Union Station)
  • Train 433 (1:35pm departure from Penn Station)
Train 435 (2:35pm departure from Penn Station) may experience a 15-20 minute delay, however, it may also depart on time. An update will be provided closer to train departure.

Updates on the overall status of service will be provided as necessary but again, at this time, we anticipate operating all Camden and Penn Line trains this afternoon. Since many passengers rode Metro this morning, Washington Metrorail will honor MARC tickets this afternoon. Please show your MARC ticket to the Metrorail Station Manager, and he or she will permit you to enter through the gate next to the information kiosk. Please note that Metro parking charges, however, are not included and must be paid upon exiting the parking lot. Reimbursement is not provided.

Thank you for riding MARC Train and we regret any inconvenience from the delays you have experienced today.

PREVIOUS REPORT — Service has been entirely suspended on the Penn line south of New Carrollton, and west of Greenbelt on the Camden line. Train delays can be up to an hour.

There was a 20 to 30-minute delay at the Dorsey and Savage stations, the Maryland Transit Administration advised just before 9 a.m.

Metro is honoring tickets for MARC Wednesday morning.

"Federal and local authorities say their investigation of an incident north of Washington, D.C., last night is not yet complete," Amtrak said in a statement Wednesday morning. "Therefore, Amtrak service between Washington and Philadelphia remains disrupted due to a temporary track closure."
