Ambulance Driver Injured in Kit Kat Road Crash: Police
The crash happened Monday night and resulted in more than four-hour closure of Route 1.

An ambulance driver was in critical condition Monday night after crashing into a tractor-trailer on US 1 at Kit Kat Road in Elkridge, according to the Howard County Police Department, which reported six people also had minor injuries.

The collision occurred at approximately 7 p.m. on Monday, according to WBAL.

The ambulance driver had to be cut from the wreckage and was taken to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center, WUSA 9 reported.
The driver was “stable, awake and speaking to family members,” the Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services chief reported Monday night.

Three other members of the Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services were taken to Howard County General Hospital with minor injuries, according to the chief.
The ambulance was not transporting anyone at the time of the collision, according to WUSA 9.
Washington Boulevard/US Route 1 was shut down in the area of Kit Kat Road from approximately 7:45 p.m. on Monday to approximately 12:15 a.m. on Tuesday, the Maryland State Highway Administration reported.
