On Jan. 9, Councilman Calvin Ball (D-Elkridge/Ellicott City/Columbia/Jessup) filed to be an Obama delegate to the Democratic National Convention.
“As a strong supporter of our President, it would be an honor to be selected for this prestigious position and to be an integral part of our Presidential electoral process,” said Ball in a press release.
If he is elected as a delegate for Obama, Ball will attend the Democratic National Convention as an officially designated delegate. If Obama gets the Democratic nod, Ball would be one of the necessary delegate votes to give him the nomination, from an official vote perspective.
