Elkridge Heritage Society: May Presentation by Fred Dorsey and June Fundraiser

Please join us: May 14th: Free presentation by Fred Dorsey about Belmont and the families who lived there. June 8th: Brumbaugh Bash Cook-out and fundraiser.

We are very happy that Fred Dorsey has agreed to speak at our May meeting, on Tuesday May 14th at 7pm. He will be speaking about Belmont and the families that lived there. The meeting will be at the Brumbaugh House, 5825 Main Street, Elkridge, at 7pm. We hope you will join us for this important (and free) event. Refreshments will be served. All are welcome.

Tickets are now on sale for our biggest fundraiser of the year, the First Annual Brumbaugh Bash, which is a cook-out to be held on Saturday, June 8th from 4pm to 8pm, also at the Brumbaugh House and grounds. Tickets are $25 per adult, $10 for children aged 6 to 12. Children under 6 are free. There will be typical cook-out fare: hamburgers, hotdogs, salads, and soft drinks. We will even try our hand at some veggie burgers. For the adults, there will be beer and wine. The Brumbaugh House will be open - please come and see what we have done with the place, and peruse some of the items in our collection, which will be on display. Dr. Brumbaugh's office is still as he left it in 1981 so for you Brumbaugh Babies out there, this will be a walk down memory lane. (We hope you have good memories of the much loved Dr. Brumbaugh, though not everyone likes going to the doctor!) Please come and learn about EHS and support our efforts. We cannot continue to maintain the house and collection without our help! Part of your ticket price includes a tax deductible donation ($15 out of the $25 adult ticket, and $5 out of the $10 child ticket).

To purchase tickets for the Brumbaugh Bash, you may pay cash or check (made out to the Elkridge Heritage Society) at the May 14th meeting, or you may mail a check to the Elkridge Heritage Society, 5825 Main Street, Elkridge MD 21075. You may also pay on line at www.elkridgeheritage.org. There are two links for PayPal users, one for adult tickets and one for child tickets. You may put tickets of both types in your shopping cart and check out. Be sure to keep hitting "continue" during check-out until you come to the actual PayPal page where you submit payment. For the last event, we had some people who thought they finished paying, but did not complete the process. We are working to make it more user-friendly, but for now, it is still a little cumbersome. Another option is to pay by credit card by adding up how much your tickets will cost and making an on-line donation for that amount, with a comment about what the donation is for.
