Elkridge Man Asked Minor for Sex, Then Assaulted Officer: Police

Officials said the man from Deep Run Parkway attempted to steal the police car after he was arrested.

HOWARD COUNTY, MD — After an Elkridge man was arrested for allegedly trying to solicit sex from a minor, officials said he assaulted an officer and tried to steal the police car to escape.

William Lemus Gonzalez, 27, of Deep Run Parkway, was charged with sexual solicitation of a minor, attempted escape, attempted motor vehicle theft, second-degree assault and resisting arrest, police said.

Authorities began investigating Lemus Gonzalez after a 10-year-old girl reported that she had been communicating with him online when he asked her for nude pictures and suggested they meet to engage in sexual acts, according to police.

An undercover Howard County detective posed online as a 14-year-old girl and arranged to meet him for sex.

When Lemus Gonzalez was walking to a Columbia apartment where he thought he was going to meet her on Thursday, Nov. 17, he was immediately taken into custody, according to police.

En route to central booking for processing, Lemus Gonzalez tried to escape from the back seat and when the officer pulled over to ensure he was secure, he allegedly lunged to the front seat, tried to drive the patrol car away and assaulted the officer, police said.

Lemus Gonzalez is being held at the Howard County Detention Center without bail, authorities said.

According to detectives, Lemus Gonzalez may have had more victims.
