Elkridge Man Killed Crossing Route 1: Police
Based on preliminary investigation, Howard County police said pedestrian error was a factor in fatal crash.
An Elkridge man died Friday night trying to cross Washington Boulevard/US 1 in the area of Loudon Avenue, according to the Howard County Police Department.
Vernon Edward Anderson, 47, of Elkridge, was pronounced dead at the scene at approximately 8:21 p.m., police reported.
Police said a 2009 Toyota Corolla was headed north on Route 1 when it hit Anderson, according to the report. Officials identified the driver of the Corolla as a 54-year-old Reisterstown man.

As of 10:50 p.m., Route 1 was closed between Rowanberry Drive and Loudon Avenue.
