The Howard County Police Department’s Financial Crimes Unit is continuing to investigate hundreds of Unemployment Insurance fraud claims that have been received through our online reporting (Coplogic) system.

The Howard County Police Department’s Financial Crimes Unit is continuing to investigate hundreds of Unemployment Insurance fraud claims that have been received through our online reporting (Coplogic) system.

Understandably, many of those reporting a fraud claim prefer not to provide certain personal information due to concerns of further identity theft. However, in order to track your claim the Maryland State Department of Labor (DLLR) requires certain information be provided.

Those falling into this category will be receiving an email from HCPD with instructions on how to proceed, to include contact information for the investigating detective and how to provide their information directly to a uniformed HCPD officer, if preferred. Please do not call 911 to provide the requested information.

  • Never give personal or financial information to an unsolicited caller.
