Motorcyclist Killed in Elkridge Crash: Police

A Jessup motorcyclist failed to yield right of way on Route 1, police said of preliminary investigation into fatal crash.

A Jessup motorcyclist died Saturday from a crash in Elkridge involving another vehicle, according to the Howard County Police Department.

Gregory Trout, 64, of Jessup, was turning his motorcycle in the 5800 block of Washington Boulevard when he was hit by an SUV, police reported.

The collision occurred at approximately 4:49 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 8, when Trout was turning his 2001 Harley Davidson right onto southbound Washington Boulevard/US 1, according to the report.

A 2014 GMC Arcadia that was also headed south on Route 1 hit the motorcycle, the report said.

According to the preliminary investigation, police said Trout failed to yield to the SUV, which had the right of way.

The driver of the SUV—a 44-year-old Halethorpe woman—was not injured in the crash, according to police.

Trout was taken to St. Agnes Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased, police reported.
