Shocking Tip Left By Secret Santas Stuns Howard County Waitress

A Howard County waitress couldn't believe the amount of tip left by a group of secret Santas seeking to brighten the holidays for others.

ELKRIDGE, MD — What started as an ordinary shift at the Silver Diner in Elkridge ended up becoming the most memorable day for waitress Roxana Salina. Last week, Salina received a tip for a $25 check that baffled her.

"They put it on the side and said, 'We're going to give you an extra tip.' And I saw all the cash -- the hundreds, twenties, tens -- and I say, 'Are you sure this is for me?' And they said, 'Yes,'" Salinas told WBAL.

So what was her tip? $910.

"I started crying, I got so emotional. Very blessed. They got up and hugged me and they were crying with me saying, 'Roxana, you make us cry.' I said, 'I'm sorry but this is so beautiful. You make me feel very special,'" Salinas said.

A group of people seeking to brighten the holidays for others was behind the tremendously huge tip.

"It's like God sent me that gift special to me. It's like appreciation of life," Salinas said.

Her customers said the shocking gift couldn't have happened to a better person.

"She's just so happy and bubbly all the time, it's just great," a regular customer said.

"She's so giving. We just love to see her. She brightens our day when we come in," another regular customer said.

The secret Santas told Salinas she isn't the only person they plan to surprise this holiday season. They hope to bestow big gifts upon others soon.

"Those people are angels, and just not for me, for somebody else as well," Salinas said.

She plans to use the tip to help pay rent, buy Christmas gifts and send money back to her family in El Salvador.
