Street Sweeper Blaze Breaks Out On Route 1: HoCo Fire & Rescue

ELKRIDGE, MD — A street sweeper was on fire on Washington Boulevard in Elkridge Friday night, according to the Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services. Drivers were advised to expect delays due to the emergency response.

At approximately 5:30 p.m., crews were in the 7400 block of Washington Boulevard tending to the vehicle fire, officials reported. They were staging near Washington Boulevard/Route 1 at Kit Kat Road.

After checking to see if the fire had spread to nearby buildings, officials said they determined it had not, and some firefighters were returning to service around 5:40 p.m.
