Three People Displaced, Cat Killed in Elkridge House Fire: Officials
The fire on Railroad Avenue was under investigation Friday, Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services reports.
A cat perished and three people were displaced due to a house fire in lower Elkridge Friday afternoon, according to the Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services.
First responders were called to a house fire in the 5600 block of Railroad Avenue just after noon, according to a report from the department.
Upon arrival, they found heavy fire in the back of the house, and crews from Howard, Baltimore and Anne Arundel fire departments responded to put out all visible flames quickly, the report said.

After checking to make sure the blaze hadn’t spread anywhere, firefighters officially declared the blaze out by 1 p.m., officials reported.
There was extensive damage to the house, which officials said would likely be deemed uninhabitable.

The Red Cross was assisting three adults who were displaced, the department reported.
While no humans were injured, a family cat died in the fire, according to the report.
Investigators were working to determine what caused the blaze and where it started, officials said.
