Volunteer Orientation - Give the Gift of Independence

Join us at 5pm on Wednesday, June 10th for Volunteer Orientation. Give seniors the "wheels" they need to remain active and independent!

On November 17, 2004 Neighbor Ride launched its volunteer-based transportation service with the enhance the health and quality of life for Howard County’s older residents. Today, our dedicated volunteers provide an average of 1,400 trips per month for medical appointments, shopping, social outings, personal care and business, religious services, volunteer activities and other day-to-day needs. In the words of two passengers, “We have been able to retain our independence because of Neighbor Ride...Thanks so much and God bless.”

You can help give seniors the lift they need to remain active and independent by volunteering as a Neighbor Ride driver. Flexible and rewarding daytime, evening and weekend volunteer opportunities are available. Drivers are asked to commit to just two trips a month; and may choose to provide rides that both fit their schedules and are convenient to their homes, offices and daily routines. Parents are welcome to bring their children along when volunteering for a wonderful inter-generational experience.

Contact Patrice Cerwonka at 410-884-RIDE (7433) or volunteer@neighborride.org for more information about volunteering. You may also visit us on the web at www.neighborride.org.
