6 Schools Earn Maryland Blue Ribbon Awards For 2018-2019
The six Maryland Blue Ribbon Schools were selected for their high performance on standardized tests.

MARYLAND — The 2018-2019 crop of Maryland Blue Ribbon Schools was announced on Tuesday, Dec. 18. From the Eastern Shore to the D.C. suburbs, schools were recognized for being high performers. Four elementary schools, one middle school and one high school were selected.
To qualify, a school has to score in the top 15 percent of all Maryland schools on the PARCC assessments. The Maryland State Department of Education picks the honorees.
“Creating an outstanding learning environment is no easy task; it requires students, teachers, staff, family members and the community to work together toward a common goal," Maryland State Superintendent of Schools Dr. Karen Salmon said in a statement. "Maryland’s Blue Ribbon honorees and their communities build a strong support system, giving our students the tools they need to succeed."
