MARYLAND — Restaurant openings around the area and millions of dollars in changes coming to FedEx Fiield topped the business news in Maryland. Also, a clothing chain is opening its first location in an MD mall, a popular food truck is opening its first brick-and-mortar location, a new shop offers help for back pain, and new budget flights are coming soon to BWI Airport.
Here are some of this week's business headlines:
The international retailer Primark will open a storefront at the Mall at Prince George's. The retailer will occupy 30,000 square feet and plans to open in 2025. The store will be located in the space formerly occupied by JC Penney.
DIG, a fast-casual restaurant, held a grand opening ceremony for its newest location in Bethesda. The grand opening celebration marked the brand's first restaurant in Maryland.
Chef Jarrad Silver, owner of Silver and Sons BBQ, a food truck and catering operation, will be opening a new brick-and-mortar location in Bethesda.
Relax The Back, a store that provides products to help in the relief and prevention of back pain, is planning to open a new store in the Shops at Congressional shopping center, according to a report.
After 112 years of serving the Harford County community, UM Harford Memorial Hospital closed its doors. The decision was made to move all services at the hospital to the brand new UM Upper Chesapeake Medical Center Aberdeen or at UM Upper Chesapeake Medical Center Bel Air.
Four new Frontier Airlines flights debut this spring at Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport. All four flights were announced with introductory sale fares of $19 plus taxes and fees one-way with limited availability.
The Washington Commanders said they plan to continue fixing FedEx Field, once ranked the worst NFL stadium. Since new ownership took the reins last July, the Commanders have promised more than $75 million in upgrades to the stadium. The newly-announced upgrades include quicker entry into the stadium, new premium seating options and suite experiences, improved food and drink options, sound system upgrades, elevator and escalator upgrades, and more.
