Freeze-Dried Indian Food Line Launched In Ellicott City (patch.com) — Ellicott City residents can now pick up locally made, freeze-dried Indian meals from Spicey Saffron, a new venture launched by Ashish and Beena Bakshi on Main Street. The couple, inspired by a family hiking trip, has already sold hundreds of packets featuring popular vegetarian dishes that can be prepared in minutes with hot water or a microwave.
   

2. New Howard Co. Fire Station Saves Lives, Trains Aspiring First Responders (patch.com) — Ellicott City is set to gain Fire Station 15 along the Route 108 corridor, bringing expanded emergency services and on-site training for aspiring EMTs and firefighters. The project, paired with the nearby Career and Technical Education Center, will give local students classroom space, clinical experience, and a pathway to advanced paramedic training, while future plans include Fire Station 16 in western Ellicott City.
   

3. Inside A Hiring Program Built For People With Autism (disabilityscoop.com) — An Autism Society of Maryland hiring program is helping adults with autism build job skills and connect with inclusive employers, including Mary's Land Farm in Ellicott City. The 160-acre farm now employs two autistic workers, while the free 10-week course offers soft-skills training, employer education, and ongoing support that's reaching Howard County and nearby communities.
   

4. Best Places For Pumpkin Picking In Maryland This Fall (thebaynet.com) — Maryland pumpkin patches get a spotlight this fall, and one of the featured spots is Clark's Elioak Farm right in Ellicott City. Alongside farms across Southern Maryland and beyond, it's highlighted as a family-friendly place to pick pumpkins and enjoy fall activities throughout October, giving local families an easy seasonal outing close to home.
