Linwood Center Breaks Ground for New School

Linwood Center, the Ellicott City-based provider of services for children and adults living with autism, has broken ground on a $6.5 million school.  Elected officials, staff members, donors, neighbors and other supporters attended the celebration.

Linwood School will house a state-of-the-art educational program in a 36,000 square foot building.  In addition to accepting students on the more challenging end of the spectrum, the new school will allow Linwood to accept kindergarten to 12th grade students with less severe forms of autism. There are no other comprehensive nonpublic autism programs close to Howard County, and many local students with autism are bused to schools outside the county.

Linwood Center’s mission is to create the possibility of extraordinary lives for children and adults living with autism and related developmental disabilities by providing education, vocational training, residential support and employment opportunities.
