Antique Depot Here to Stay, Says New Building Owner

The Maryland Avenue building sold for more than a half million dollars.

William John Armstrong likes history. "I was a history major in college," he said. "I just love driving through Ellicott City."

So much so that along with his two business partners, Sarah Eveler and Mark Feinberg, he bought the building at 3720 Maryland Ave. in Historic Ellicott City, home of the , in an auction Wednesday.

Their winning bid: $550,000.Ā

The former owner of the 15-16,000 square-foot building, Larry Porter, said he had no comment about his decision to sell.

As for the 50 or so vendors who now rent space to sell everything from porcelain dolls to antique vanities, Armstrong said he plans to keep things as is.

"I hope they will want to stay," he said.
