BALTIMORE, MD — A man has been arrested in the fatal shooting of off-duty Howard County deputy Ryan Demby, who was killed early Friday morning when a fight broke out at a Baltimore bar, according to police and Baltimore councilman Eric Costello.
Jewel Crowder, 40, of Baltimore, was taken into custody Friday and charged with first-degree murder in connection with Demby's death. In a news release, police said Crowder was arrested without incident.
In a statement posted on social media, Costello said Demby was killed after two groups of people got into a verbal and physical altercation just inside Wayward Bar & Kitchen in Baltimore. The fight then moved to a nearby parklet outside Mother’s Federal Hill Grille, where authorities said Crowder took out a gun and shot Demby four times in the torso.
