Bank Robbed, Taxi Ambushed, Home Invaded: Ellicott City Crime
Six burglaries were also reported in Ellicott City this week, according to Howard County police.

ELLICOTT CITY, MD — The Howard County Police Department provided the following information about recent incidents.
Police arrested a man suspected of stealing two tires from a vehicle on the lot at the Norris car dealership in the 8500 block of Baltimore National Pike. The theft was reported before 3:15 a.m. on Jan. 12, and responding officers located the suspect. A 19-year-old Windsor Mill man was charged with theft and trespassing.
Capital One Bank in the 9200 block of Baltimore National Pike was robbed at approximately 4 p.m. on Jan. 10. The suspect approached a teller, implied a weapon and demanded money, then left with an undisclosed amount of cash. Nobody was injured in the robbery.

A taxi was robbed at gunpoint by two black men with short mustaches who were 20 to 24 years old. A man was getting out of the cab in the 3300 block of Sonia Trail before 10:30 p.m. on Jan. 10 when the suspects approached him, one showed a handgun and the other stole cash from the vehicle. Nobody was injured.
A man with his face partly covered forced his way into a woman's home, assaulted her and took cash. She had been opening the back sliding door to her residence in the 8900 block of Town and Country Boulevard around 9:30 p.m. on Jan. 6 when the man, described as a black man with a heavy build, forced his way inside. The victim was taken to Howard County General Hospital for treatment.

Burglaries
Firearms, a coin collection and TV were stolen from the 3600 block of Chatham Road. The rear window was broken in the burglary, which was reported after 8 p.m. on Jan. 11.
A back garage door was pried open in the 3600 block of Horned Owl Court between Jan. 10 and Jan. 11. It was unclear if anything was stolen.
A residence was burglarized through a rear slider that was pried open. It did not appear that anything was stolen in the burglary, which was reported at approximately 10:15 p.m. on Jan. 10.
A home was burglarized through a back window in the 4700 block of Yorkshire Drive, reported at 8:07 p.m. on Jan. 10. It was unclear if anything was taken.
Pro Nails in the 6000 block of University Boulevard was burglarized at 4:55 a.m. on Jan. 8. The front glass was broken, and change was stolen.
A residence was burglarized in the 3700 block of Dorsey Search Circle, reported after 9:30 p.m. on Jan. 7. The back window had been pried, and jewelry, electronics and purses were stolen.
