Police have identified the body found in the Patapsco River.

Police said crews searching the Patapsco River have located the body of a man who was reported missing during Sunday's flood in Ellicott City. Emergency officials had been searching the area since Sunday and found the missing man on Tuesday.

Eddison Alexander Hermond, 39, of Severn, was last seen at 5:20 p.m. in a restaurant parking lot in the downtown area, Howard County officials said.

Hermond, who was an active member of the Army National Guard, was reported missing after trying to help a woman find her cat behind La Palapa in Ellicott City. Police said witnesses who also went to assist saw him get swept in the floodwaters, and he did not resurface.
