DUI For Ellicott City Driver In Overnight Patrol: Police

Howard County police said seven people, including one from Ellicott City, were charged with driving under the influence.

ELLICOTT CITY, MD — Seven people were charged with DUI overnight during a patrol aimed at taking impaired drivers off area roads, the Howard County Police Department reported Saturday. One was from Ellicott City.

The detail was funded by a grant, Howard County police said. The department is participating in the Maryland Department of Transportation's campaign Toward Zero Deaths. The initiative is designed reduce the number of motor vehicle crashes in which speed, alcohol and other driving violations are contributing factors through high-visibility patrols conducted throughout the year.

These drivers were charged in the recent DUI patrol, which was conducted overnight Friday to Saturday, police said:

  • Anthony Tyrone Webster, 46, of Columbia

The legal blood alcohol limit for drinking and driving in Maryland is .08.

People are reminded to designate a sober driver if they plan to drink while out. Anyone who sees an impaired driver is asked to call 911.
