Ellicott City B&O Railroad Station Museum Reopens
The historic building on Maryland Avenue has reopened.

ELLICOTT CITY, MD — The Ellicott City railroad museum opened to the public on Wednesday, one month after the historic downtown closed due to a flash flood. The Baltimore & Ohio Station Museum will welcome visitors for limited hours in a reopening that local officials hope will signify the regeneration of the Main Street district.
The station is the oldest passenger train station still around, dating back to 1830, when it was a train depot. It became a museum in 1972, and Howard County Recreation & Parks has been managing it since 2017.
"Although the flood damage to historic Ellicott City was severe, the museum was thankfully spared any significant harm," Department of Recreation & Parks Director John Byrd said in a statement.

"With the museum’s reopening, we hope we can assist our neighboring businesses in their recovery efforts by attracting neighbors and tourists to our town," Byrd added.
Several businesses reopened in the Main Street area last week, and parts of Main Street were cleared for two-way traffic again.
