Ellicott City Driver Dies After Crash Into Pole: Police
An Ellicott City driver died in a crash on Frederick Road Sunday night; another vehicle with two passengers was also involved, police said.

ELLICOTT CITY, MD — Police said an Ellicott City man died after a crash on Frederick Road Sunday night. The collision involved two vehicles and occurred at 7:55 p.m. near Terra Maria Way, police said.
Dante Taylor, 30, of Ellicott City, was driving a 2003 Lincoln Town Car west on Frederick Road when he tried to pass a car on the shoulder west of Terra Maria Way, authorities reported.
As he attempted to pass the 2006 Subaru Impreza, officials said Taylor swiped the vehicle before his Lincoln Town Car went off the road and hit a utility pole.

Taylor, who was the only person in his car, was taken to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where he was pronounced deceased, according to police.
The driver and passenger in the Subaru were treated for injuries that police said were minor.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation, and police reported after midnight that Frederick Road remained closed in the area of Terra Maria Way.
This was the second fatal crash around Ellicott City in 24 hours. A 21-year-old Columbia man died after a single-vehicle crash on Centennial Lane near Burnside Drive, where his car hit a tree, police reported.
