Ellicott City Gallery Presents 'City Sights'

An exhibition of digital paintings showing humanity in urban life will be on display at the Artists' Gallery in Ellicott City.

ELLICOTT CITY, MD - From Artists' Gallery of Ellicott City: Terry Pellmar will display an exhibition of dynamic digital paintings titled “City Sights” at Artists’ Gallery on Main Street. The show runs from July 31-August 26, with an opening reception on August 5 from 2-4 p.m. at 8197 Main Street, Ellicott City.

“City scenes are a contrast to my usual landscapes that provide the serenity I often seek. Cities challenge me – tall buildings and a frenzy of motion. With the images in this exhibit, I try to capture the humanity of the city, whether it is in the laundry hanging in the window, the traffic in the streets, or the men working on the sidewalks,” Pellmar commented.

Pellmar is a Maryland-based, award-winning, digital artist. After her retirement from a scientific career she taught herself digital art techniques and trained with local artists in traditional artistic media. An electronic stylus is her paintbrush and a computer screen is her canvas. She prints on traditional and non-traditional surfaces and often enhances the product with an overlay of paints and/or pastels. Her blending of digital and classical approaches results in a style uniquely hers.
