Ellicott City Teen Killed in Crash: Police
The 16-year-old driver in fatal crash did not have a license, according to Howard County police, who said another teen was injured.

ELKRIDGE, MD – A 16-year-old from Ellicott City died early Sunday morning in a crash in Elkridge, according to the Howard County Police Department. Police said the only passenger, a 17-year-old from Hanover, was injured.
Yash Mitul Shah, 16, of Pine Run Court, lost control of a 2014 Infinity QX60 SUV on a curve in the 5500 block of Landing Road, then crashed into trees and a utility pole before 5 a.m., according to police.
Shah was pronounced deceased at the scene.

His passenger—Manav Amvrish Trivedi, 17, of Hanover Road—was taken to Howard County General Hospital with injuries that officials reported were not believed to be life-threatening.
Preliminarily, police said that speed may have been a factor in the collision. Authorities also noted that Shah did not have a license.

The 5500 block of Landing Road (near the Rockburn Branch Park entrance) will be closed for several hours for investigation, police said in a statement before noon.
Drivers are advised to avoid the area.
