A Natural History Society of Maryland Program
Fred Parker will give you an overview of the minerals of Maryland, show you how to read geologic maps, and share specimens from his collection. He will also share advice and connections to get out and collect with others.
Fred has a masters in materials science and geology from Rutgers University; was a research scientist for several chemical companies and now a Patent Examiner with the US Patent & Trademark Office. He has over 15 publications, 5 patents, and is co-authoring a book on MD minerals. He has been a part-time mineral dealer since 1969 and continues to do mineral studies on several Maryland sites.
