Condo Fire Caused $1.2M in Damage: HoCo Officials

More than a dozen residents were displaced by Sunday fire off Old Stockbridge Drive in Ellicott City.

ELLICOTT CITY, MD – At least six condos were damaged in a three-alarm blaze in Ellicott City Sunday, according to the Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services.

Multiple people called 911 at approximately 11:20 a.m. to report the side of a building was on fire in the 7600 block of Coachlight Lane, the department said in a statement.

With heavy fire showing from the two-story building when crews arrived, mutual aid from Anne Arundel County was requested, and the fire was upgraded to two alarms and then three alarms, with personnel from BWI also assisting, Howard County officials reported. In all, 75 firefighters responded.

It took 90 minutes for crews to bring the blaze under control.

There were 12 adults and four children displaced as a result of the fire, which caused $1.2 million in damage, officials said. The Red Cross was assisting the residents.

Nobody was injured, according to fire and rescue personnel.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
