Former HCPSS Employee Facing 16 Theft Charges
Police say elementary school employee in Howard County stole nearly $9K that was to go to field trips, fundraisers.

ELKRIDGE, MD — An Elkridge woman who worked for the Howard County Public School System (HCPSS) has been charged with stealing almost $9,000, according to police.
Twyla Renee Blackmon-Green, 50, was served with a criminal summons Monday charging her with 16 counts of theft from Ducketts Lane Elementary School, police reported.
Blackmon-Green worked for the school, which provided evidence that she had taken a new document shredder in October 2015, police said.

When HCPSS reported discrepancies in the Ducketts Lane Elementary School ledgers to police in recent weeks, authorities say they began investigating further.
Security personnel pointed to Blackmon-Green, who had access to the school’s accounts and cash, police reported.

Blackmon-Green was listed in HCPSS records as the secretary at Ducketts Lane Elementary School.
Police allege Blackmon-Green took nearly $9,000 that was to go toward fundraisers, field trips and book sales from November 2014 to October 2015.
Police said that she was no longer employed by HCPSS.
She is scheduled to appear in court on March 10, according to police.
