HCPSS Updates Weather Decision For Wednesday, Jan. 30
The Howard County Public School System has changed course regarding the schedule for Wednesday.

HOWARD COUNTY, MD — In an update to a previous call to open late, officials from the Howard County Public School System announced Wednesday morning that schools would be closed. Schools and offices will be closed on Wednesday, Jan. 30, according to HCPSS.
Athletic practices and games are canceled, in addition to after-school events.
School and community-sponsored evening activities are canceled as well.

PREVIOUS REPORT (EXPIRED) — Public schools in Howard County will open late on Wednesday, Jan. 30. The decision was made Tuesday night and will be reevaluated by 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday, according to the Howard County Public School System.

Schools will open two hours late on Wednesday, and buses will operate on a two-hour delayed schedule.
Morning half-day prekindergarten and RECC are canceled.
Morning child care programs sponsored by the Columbia Association and the Howard County Department of Recreation and Parks will be delayed two hours, officials advised.
School offices will open on time on Wednesday.
Howard County public schools dismissed three hours early on Tuesday because of the threat of winter weather.
Up to 2 inches of snow accumulated in part of Howard County Tuesday as a wintry mix spread over the region, according to preliminary data from the National Weather Service.
An arctic blast is in the forecast for Wednesday, with a chance of snow showers as well as wind gusts above 40 mph. Temperatures will be below freezing on Wednesday, Jan. 30, according to the National Weather Service.
